The Office of the United States Tourism and Travel Industry (OTTI) released a report on US travel data for 2016. A new record was set with 80.2 million travelers, representing an increase of 8% over to 2015.

The month with the highest increase of people traveling was December, with a 9% increase in relation to the same month of 2015. The most visited continent was Europe, with 13.6 million visitors, and the continent with the largest increase of tourists US went to Oceania, 13% more than the previous year.

US travel to other continents accounted for 44% of the total, one percentage point less than in 2015. See the table below for each continent.

Meanwhile, US travel to North America, Mexico and Canada, recorded 45.1 million tourists, up 9% from 2015.
