Emirates launched its new First Class for B777-300ER aircraft and the future fleet of B777X this week. The new product was officially presented on the first day of the Dubai Air Show and, soon enough, you can see that quality and technology are key pieces in the development of the new class. There are six cabins with sliding doors and state-of-the-art technologies.
To get a sense, window blinds can be opened digitally. A tablet is responsible for much of the new cab’s stock. The middle cabin, since the configuration is 1-1-1, will still have a sort of digital window, ie, cameras installed in the fuselage of the aircraft will take the outside view to those who do not have direct access to the window.
Emirates worked alongside Mercedes-Benz, among other companies, to design the interior of the new cabin. Because of the additional space in the suites, the company was forced to reduce the first class from eight to just six cabins, bringing even more exclusivity to passengers. The new product, however, will still take a long time to reach the market: end of 2019. The idea is to use the aircraft with the new cabin on flights from Dubai to Brussels, Geneva, Chicago, Perth and Brisbane.
The company is now working to set the upgrade to be carried out this time on the A380s fleet. The idea is to perform the retrofitting of the entire fleet as quickly as possible. “The work is already underway,” said Emirates CEO Tim Clark, who added that the A380’s cabin is much larger and more complicated to make changes. With the new product installed, the new First Class of the Emirates A380 will also be reduced, from 14 to 11 seats.
