Some airlines are betting high on the tourist demand for Bahia in high season. The offer of extra flights grew substantially compared to last summer, rising from 1,5 thousand to more than 3 thousand, representing a 100% increase. In addition to the increase in frequencies in domestic flights, there are new international routes scheduled from January, interconnecting the state with Montevideo, Santiago and Buenos Aires.
The estimate of the Bahia Tourism Secretariat (Setur) is that Bahia receives 5.6 million domestic and foreign tourists in the summer of 2017/2018. “Factors such as the reduction of the value of ICMS for fuel by the State Government and the promotion of Bahia contributed to the strengthening of the air network,” said Tourism Secretary José Alves.
