Azul Linhas Aéreas announced the expansion of its aircraft maintenance structure at Pampulha airport in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. The company will build a new hangar, with two thousand square meters, which is expected to be ready in December this year, adding four hangars in the capital of Minas Gerais.

“Any routine or occasional maintenance activity that requires more time or the removal of that aircraft from the company’s mesh is performed inside the hangars,” explains Azul’s technical-operational vice president Flávio Costa. “We are investing in this area and hiring people to expand our range of operations and continue to ensure a high standard of operational safety,” he adds.

After completion of the space, there will be an increase in capacity to perform maintenance services, including five aircraft simultaneously for services that require more execution time – today the capacity is three aircraft.

In addition, 50 new maintenance technicians were hired and the company expects to have more autonomy to carry out the activities, reduce costs and introduce new technologies, and expand the development of the work in the place. In all, there will be more than 150 people in aircraft maintenance in Pampulha, working on the checks (regular inspections and repairs of aircraft) of the ATR 72-600 turboprops and Embraer 190 and 195 jets.
