With a promise that has been going on for 12 years, the São Paulo Government has announced a new date for the inauguration of the Jade Line-13, which will connect the Luz station in downtown São Paulo to Guarulhos Airport. According to the Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM), the start of operations is expected to take place in March 2018.

Also according to the company, the so-called CPTM Airport-Express will travel the route in 35 minutes, departed from the stations at previously set times. In addition, passengers will still have two other ways to get to the station: one at Goulart Station, which allows the transfer to Line 12; and another, by CPTM’s new service (Connect), for peak times, which will leave the airport in the direction of Brás Station.

Next, check how the planned operations will be.

Line / Service Path Time Price
Express Line Airport-Light Station (8h, 10h, 12h and 22h) and Light-Airport Station (9h, 11h, 13h and 21h) 35 minutes from R $ 5 to R $ 10
Conventional service Guarulhos Airport – Goulart Engineer Station (4am to midnight) 53 minutes from R $ 5 to R $ 10
Connect Service Guarulhos Airport – Bras Station (5am to 9am and 4pm to 8pm) 35 minutes R $ 3,80

Line 13-Jade operation was defined after studies of the demand estimate of the new line (about 120 thousand users per day) and of shipments and transported by Line 12-Sapphira.

HISTORIC
The promise of the train that would link Guarulhos Airport to São Paulo had the first forecast for 2005, even during the first management of Geraldo Alckmin – but was postponed to 2010, under the administration of José Serra. It was only in 2015 that the government returned to talk about the works and the delivery had been promised by the end of this year.
