An iceberg three times larger than the city of São Paulo is drifting in the sea. Scientists at the University of Swansea in the United Kingdom have confirmed that the giant ice block has broken out in Antarctica and now threatens vessels.
Through a communiqué, the group confirmed that the block was released between the last Monday (10) and this morning. Called A68, the iceberg weighs more than one trillion tons and adds 5,800 square kilometers of area, almost four times larger than the city of São Paulo.
Experts confirm that they will continue to monitor the position of the block, but warn that fragments may end up floating north, where it may threaten navigation.
