Passengers boarding and departing at Santos Dumont Airport / RJ have the entire service infrastructure. In addition to the large number of commercial establishments within the terminal itself, the Bossa Nova Shopping Mall is also located next to the airport, which has good restaurants and renowned brands. However, there is something that has consumed the patience and well-being of those who attend the airport managed by Infraero: the presence of street vendors inside the terminal itself.
They circulate freely through the terminal and offer various products to passengers throughout the day. A source linked to the MARKET AND EVENTS reported that travelers are approached daily by hawkers. There are all types of products: water, soda, candy, chewing gum, among others, which is considered inappropriate and of some inconvenience to those who cross the lobby of one of the main airports of the country.
One of the people who works in the SDU check-in lounge (and did not want to identify himself) said the same is all day. “We do not have security, we have no control, we spend all day with these ambulantes inside the airport terminal offering their products without the slightest supervision, always the surveillance cameras monitoring the lobby, but nothing happens,” he said.
Soon after the publication of this report, Infraero contacted the M & E staff and stated that the responsibility lies with the City of Rio de Janeiro. “Santos Dumont / RJ is public until the embarkation area, considered restricted, so this whole area of the lobby is the responsibility of the city hall.We have security at the airport but we do not have the power of the police. We also have systematic meetings with the authorities of the city to solve these kinds of problems, both safety regulations and transportation. ”
Dear, the city of Rio de Janeiro has not yet spoken on the subject.
