Flying is getting faster and faster, but you never imagined that it could be that fast. United has launched the shortest US aviation route with the flight between San Francisco and Santa Rosa, which covers the 100 miles between the two points in about 16 minutes of flight. The frequency will be held three times a week.
The route will be the shortest flight to be operated within the United States, but there are even shorter frequencies around the world such as the 12-minute air ride between Toronto and Niagara, Canada, operated by Greater Toronto Airways, and the surprise flight of 90 seconds from the Loganair between Westray and Papa Westray on the Orkney Islands.
