Avianca Brasil has just surprised the market by announcing the codeshare agreement with Portugal’s TAP. Both are members of Star Alliance and are now implementing the first stage of the flight sharing agreement. In principle, the Portuguese airline will sell tickets for stretches operated by the partner in Brazil under the code “TP”, expanding its distribution in the Brazilian national market.

The sales will be valid for trips made from August 7, and the shared mesh includes flights from / to Aracaju, Belo Horizonte (Confins), Brasília, Campo Grande, Cuiabá, Curitiba, Florianópolis, Fortaleza, Foz do Iguaçu, Goiânia, Ilhéus, João Pessoa, Juazeiro do Norte, Maceió, Natal, Navegantes, Petrolina, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro (SDU and GIG), Salvador and São Paulo (CGH and GRU). In all, there will be more than 50 excerpts.

In a statement, Avianca Brasil states that “Regardless of the agreement announced today, Amigo and Victoria members can already use points and miles accumulated on flown sections in both companies to raise their status in loyalty programs and issue tickets in all 18,400 Daily flights operated by the 28 Star Alliance companies at 1,330 airports in 191 countries. Participants in the Gold and Diamond categories have additional benefits such as preferential check in, additional baggage allowance, priority boarding and access to VIP lounges.
