The Chinese market’s appetite for theme parks continues to grow. Following this wave, Six Flags Entertainment Corp. has just announced three new parks for 2020 in the country, plus four others that are already being worked on.

The regional theme park operator will join industry rivals such as Disney that last year launched the Shangay Disney Resorts, and Universal, which has a project under construction in Beijing.

“China continues to show very strong growth,” Six Flags CEO Jim Reid-Anderson told analysts during a conference on Wednesday. The next day, the company even announced new additions – which should have new concepts.

Among the inclusions, there are, for example, the Six Flags Kids World, designed for families with small children, as well as Six Flags Adventure Parks, which will include activities like zip lines, rafting and climbing.

According to the Skift portal, children’s parks – with smaller versions of roller coasters and rides found in the other parks of the brand – will be built next to Six Flags Zhejian and Six Flags Chongqing, which have been announced previously. Six Flags Adventure Park will be adjacent to Six Flags Chongqing.

The company’s chairman, John Odum, said the new parks “will offer unique and interactive experiences tailored to all family members – from the youngest to the most experienced adventurer.”

COMPANY GROWTH
Six Flags also has a partnership with Riverside Investment Group in China, which will boost the company’s growth internationally. “This attractive strategy will allow us to monetize our brand and expertise globally,” says Reid-Anderson.

Riverside president Zhe Li is in great demand for the entertainment and leisure industry in China, and the partnership comes at a good time for both companies. “It has always been the intention of Six Flags and Riverside to have several parks across the country. The announcement [of the partnership] is based on our shared vision, “he concludes.
