The Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, United States, received a record number of visitors in last week’s total solar eclipse (21). Park spokeswoman Denise Germann says the weekend before the eclipse and the day of the event resulted in the “busiest weekend in the history of the place.”
According to official information, there was an approximately 40% increase in visitor numbers from the previous record on the same days in 2015 and 2016. For the first time in the park history, all entry permits were issued for three consecutive days.
Wyoming Tourism Director Diane Shober says the event has impacted the entire state, although it is not yet known exactly how many people arrived for the event. She further realizes that the event was a great success and has benefited the destination in several ways.
