London’s four major airports have hit record last month. Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and Stansted had the busiest month of August of their stories, even a few months after the terrorist attacks in the country, confirming the expectation that the country has been recovering well from the attacks suffered.

Largest and main city, Heathrow Airport received 7.5 million passengers during August, 2% more than the same period last year, and the second busiest month in its history. Among the prominent destinations, the Middle East and places in the UK itself, with an increase of 7% and 6%, respectively.

Gatwick has received 4.9 million travelers last month, setting the record as the busiest month in its history; was up 2.1% over August 2016. A total of 8.1 million passengers traveled through the airport during the seven-week high season of the summer, with long-haul flights registering a growth of 11.1% over last year. The destination with the greatest increase in demand was Fort Lauderdale (Florida), followed by Saint Lucia, Oakland (California) and Varadero (Cuba).

Luton Airport received 1.6 million passengers in August, up 6.8% from the previous month of August, and the 41st consecutive month of passenger growth. Between June and August, there were 4.7 million people passing through the airport, the busiest summer of its history.

Finally, Stansted received 2.7 million passengers in August, also the busiest month in its history, and 9.9% more than in the same period last year.
