Norwegian Cruise Line has just announced a new opportunity to sail from the port of New Orleans to Caribbean dream destinations on one of the newest and largest ships of the line in the 2018/2019 season. After returning from its 2018 summer season on the Baltic, the 4,000-passenger Norwegian Breakaway will reposition itself in the jazz capital and sail the Caribbean, visiting ports such as Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; George Town, Grand Cayman; Roatán, Bay Islands, Honduras; and Harvest Caye, Belize. Harvest Caye offers a diverse and enriching experience that highlights the natural beauty and culture of Belize, as well as lush native landscaping, an aquatic pool bar, luxury beach cabanas, thrilling aerial activities and water sports. The destination also features the first wharf in Belize which allows guests to hike directly from the ship to paradise. Norwegian Gem, meanwhile, is now going from New York City to the 2018/19 winter season.

With the strong positive response to Norwegian’s position on the West Coast next year, Norwegian is offering guests another new port of departure by repositioning the 145,655 ton Norwegian Breakaway to New Orleans, a convenient port of departure along with a ship and cruising cruises from Crescent City. Norwegian Breakaway will delight cruisers of all ages as it features a wide variety of accommodations, from studios for solo travelers to the exclusive and luxurious enclave The Haven by Norwegian®; more than 25 restaurants; a water park with five water slides and an exciting canopy tour and The Plank, the board where you can walk off the ship; Broadway entertainment including Rock of Ages and more. Norwegian Breakaway, which debuted in 2013, was the first Breakaway-class ship to feature The Waterfront, a 400-meter boardwalk with restaurants, shops and entertainment, along with 678 Ocean Place, a three-story complex in the heart of ship where guests can enjoy nightlife, games and more. The ship will undergo a two-week dry dock next spring and will receive a full upgrade in public spaces including new floors, upgraded furniture, new decor and new carpets in the cabins. Norwegian Breakaway will arrive at its new port in New Orleans on November 11, 2018 and will sail a variety of cruises to the Caribbean until April 7, 2019.

Newly renovated, Norwegian Gem will remain in New York City and will sail a number of cruises to the Caribbean, Canada and New England and the Bahamas and Florida. It will share its Manhattan base port with Norwegian Escape, which will reposition itself for the summer of 2018 for the first time since being christened in 2015, sailing from New York to Bermuda on seven-day cruises every Sunday, starting in April 22, 2018. The Norwegian Escape offers Tony Award-winning entertainment such as After Midnight and critically acclaimed as For the Record: The Brat Pack, along with various food concepts, including the District Brewhouse, the craft brewery on board with 25 chopes and including a selection of popular craft beers; the luxury food emporium, Food Republic; and The Cellars, a signature wine bar by the Michael Mondavi Family.
Guests currently booking onboard Norwegian Gem of New Orleans will have their reservations protected and will be automatically transferred to the new vessel and itinerary. The new Caribbean Breakaway New Orleans Caribbean itineraries will open for sale on October 24th.
