The lively St. Petersburg promises to be even more agitated with the green and yellow colors when Norwegian Breakaway landed in the former capital of the Czars on June 20 as part of their Baltic route. The imposing city of Catherine the Great will be waiting for the game of Brazil and Costa Rica on the 22nd, and certainly with a lot of celebration, vodka toasts and countless selfies of tourists of all nationality who always flood the city in the summer.
The Norwegian Breakaway cruise on the Baltic begins on June 16 in beautiful Copenhagen, and sails to Berlin (Rostock), Germany, picturesque Tallinn, the capital of Estonia with its beautiful medieval walled city, then arriving in St Petersburg where it stands for two full days with time to visit the second largest Russian city.
There are dozens of palaces – the highlight is the Hermitage, the winter palace of Catherine the Great – on the banks of the Neva and many other canals, contrasting with the modern lifestyle, bustling nightlife, designer shops , the city founded by Peter the Great, whose summer palace, the Peterhof, with fountains in magnificent gardens is a must-see.
This trip of such diversity and contrasts still holds many surprises: the elegant Helsinki, the capital of Finland that surprises by the organization, beautiful avenues and countless cafes, where you can taste not only the drink of great quality, like puff pastry to give water in the mouth. What’s more, in the middle of summer, life takes place in the many parks and squares of Helsinki, which mainly fill at lunchtime.
Norwegian Breakaway’s next stop is in Stockholm. Noble and elegant, it presents its imposing royal palace near the old town, very tall and colorful houses, full of small shops with typical products. Upon leaving Sweden, Norwegian Breakaway sails slowly through the Stockholm archipelago, with hundreds of islands with colorful houses and smiling people waving while playing sports or fishing.
