Saint Patrick’s Day is increasingly popular. The celebration, considered the greatest symbol of Irish culture, has been spreading throughout the world in recent years, conquering more and more followers. As is already the tradition on March 17, several monuments around the globe will be illuminated in green. This year will be no different, and Brazil will also celebrate the day of the patron saint of Ireland.

Several monuments and buildings in five Brazilian cities are confirmed in the celebration and will be colored to date. The Cristo Redentor, the Maracanã Stadium, the Arcos da Lapa and the Estácio de Sá Building in Rio de Janeiro; the Roberto Marinho Journalist Building in São Paulo; the Cathedral of Stone, in Canela; the TV Globo Tower in Recife; Brasília Shopping, Metropolitan Cathedral of Brasilia, Banco do Brasil Cultural Center and Digital Tower in Brasilia.

Paulistas will be able to celebrate the date at Casa das Rosas, on Avenida Paulista, on Sunday, March 18. The special event will feature music, dance and Irish literature presentations on a real Saint Patrick’s Day on the most famous avenue in São Paulo.

Taking advantage of this time of celebrating the pride of the Irish nation, São Paulo hosts numerous events throughout the month of March, with the support of the Consulate General of Ireland in Brazil. Among them, the ‘VIVA! Ireland ‘brought together the city’s top Irish pubs at the Immigration Museum on the 4th, as well as having music, dancing, cultural workshops, lectures and film screenings.

To conclude, on the 10th is the second edition of E-Dublin XP, in the Gazeta Building, aimed at those who want to make an exchange in Ireland or want to know the destination. The program includes several lectures on topics related to life in the country, such as work and studies, as well as typical foods and beverages.

More than 300 monuments and buildings in about 30 countries will be illuminated in green, the color of Saint Patrick, on 17 March. Among them are the London Eye in London, the Empire State Building in New York, the Galeries Lafayette in Paris, and the Tower of Pisa in Italy.

“Saint Patrick’s Day is a time of great joy, in which we celebrate not only our country but also the friendship around the world,” says Barry Tumelty, Consul-General of Ireland in Brazil. “It is wonderful to see that people from many countries have embraced this sentiment, especially Brazil. We are known around the world for this party, and now we want people to live the experience of participating in it, “he concludes.
