Amid growth in the number of Brazilian tourists to South Africa, with a high of 120% in 2017 compared to the same period last year, South African Tourism (SAT) will promote, between September 11 and Second roadshow with training and presentation of South African products. The event, held in partnership with South African Airways (SAA), will run through Curitiba and São Paulo, Brazil, and through Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The first SAT roadshow took place in 2016, passing through São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte, considered strategic markets to promote the destination in Brazil. The event was attended by 14 exhibitors from South Africa, including hotels, safari lodges and land operators, and more than 140 travel agents attended the event in the three cities.
In 2017 the roadshow will take place again in São Paulo, but will also include the cities of Curitiba, a key market in the southern region of the country, and Buenos Aires, Argentina, a market that has shown great results for South Africa, with an increase of 94 % In the number of visitors until May, comparing with the same period of 2016.
The Brazilian market for South Africa has shown consistent growth in recent months. Since November 2016, the number of arrivals increases considerably each month: November 105%, December 113%, January 113%, February 175%, March 144%, April 78%, and May 103%.
“South Africa is experiencing a boom in the South American market: Latam began operating the Guarulhos-Johannesburg route with a direct impact on the cost of tickets. Consumers can now find deals up to half the price when compared to just under a year ago, “said Marcelo Marques, SAT’s business relations manager in Brazil.
