Avianca Brasil, a Brazilian member of Star Alliance, today announced that its Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Tarcísio Gargioni, will take a position on the company’s Board of Directors. The executive will remain in his position until July and, in the next six months, will participate in the process of transition and succession of his chair.
Gargioni is an Administration Advisor certified by IBGC (Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance) and already performs this independent function in two other companies. His journey in aviation, where he became one of the biggest highlights of the industry, began in the 1990s as the director of Vasp. In 2000, he co-founded GOL Linhas Aéreas, where he served as vice president of Marketing and Services for 10 years and raised the company to a national market share of 42%.
Already his career at Avianca Brasil, started in 2011, when he assumed the vice presidency and contributed with countless achievements of the company in the fronts of Marketing, Communication, customer service, cargoes and in the consolidation of the loyalty program, Amigo. Over these seven years, one of its main milestones was the increase of the company’s market share in the country, from 2% to 13%.
Tarcisio built his career and his image as an expansionist professional, who trained high performance teams, prioritizing the good strategies in building the brands he had the opportunity to represent. As a reflection of this work, it became a benchmark in the industry, accumulating countless awards. He was the only professional in the industry to receive Caboré, as Marketing Executive of the Year, promoted by Meio & Mensagem. In addition, three times, he won Best Marketing and, in three other opportunities, he was recognized as a Tourism Personality by Mercado & Eventos, with the support of the Brazilian Association of Travel Agencies (Abav Nacional).
According to José Efromovich, founder of Avianca Holdings and president of Avianca Brasil, Gargioni played a key role in the company’s expansion process, which last year launched three new international destinations – Santiago, Chile, Miami and New York, in the United States. “At the inauguration of our daily flight between Guarulhos (São Paulo) and John F. Kennedy Airport (New York), Tarcísio was honored for the excellent work it has done with the Brazilian trade and also for its strength and leadership, which represent a true legacy for the more than five thousand employees of our company, “emphasizes Efromovich.
The migration to the board of directors is a natural movement in a long trajectory marked by countless achievements within aviation. “I am sure that this transition will be very strategic and positive. As well as being admirable, Tarcisio is an extremely renowned executive who will certainly continue to drive our company with excellent contributions in his new position, as he has done so far.” says Frederico Pedreira, president of Avianca Brasil.
