In the first four months of 2017, destinations worldwide received 369 million tourists (overnight visitors) – an increase of 21 million over the same period of 2016.

The Palestinian territories went ahead, with a growth of 57.8% in the number of visitors; Followed by Egypt, with 51%. In the Americas, the destinations that grew the most were Uruguay (30.2%) and Nicaragua (28.4%).

Also listed in the list are destinations such as Iceland (4th place) and Vietnam (6th place).

The data are from the latest World Turism Barometer, a publication of the World Tourism Organization that periodically analyzes the flow of tourists in the world.

The scenario is especially positive for countries that have recently been affected by terrorist attacks or political instability. This is the case of Egypt, which is in second place on the list, with 51% growth, and Tunisia, fifth, with 32.5%.

When the regions were observed, the highest growth was recorded in the Middle East (+ 10%), followed by Africa (+ 8%), Europe, Asia and the Pacific (+ 6%).

In the Americas, there was a 4% increase in the number of visitors. In South and Central America, growth was 7%, while arrivals in North America grew 3% and in the Caribbean 2%.
