The Ministry of Tourism of Uruguay presented the new campaign for the summer season 2018 to the Brazilian public, with the intention of increasing the number of visitors from Brazil on the neighboring coast, as announced by the country’s Minister of Tourism, Lilian Kechichian, at an exclusive event in Rio Grande do Sul, last week. The season runs from December 2017 until April 2018 and it is estimated that 25% more Brazilians, who already number 500,000 visitors so far this year, are in the country during this period.
The western coast of the country, called the Corridor of Los Pajaros Pintados, will gain emphasis on promotion, which includes parts of the departments of Soriano, Rio Negro, Paysandú, Salto and Artígas. The region is one of the largest tourist attractions in the country, bordered by the Uruguay River, but it is still rarely visited by Brazilians, who make up only 15,000 people who visit the region annually.
“We want to present novelties to a population open to new experiences. That’s why we invite tour operators to showcase this new product. We show all the diversity that the Painted Bird Corridor offers today, “said Minister Lilian Kechichian.
