One of the great battles of the Tourism sector in Curitiba comes to an end. Led by the Curitiba Convention & Visitors Bureau (CCVB), the demand for reduction of the Service Tax (ISS) in the state of Paraná finally materializes from 5% to 2%.

The new measure, already sanctioned by the mayor Rafael Greca, covers fairs, exhibitions, congresses, shows and events. The initiative should significantly impact the tourism sector in the capital.

Estimates indicate that the Tourism sector moves a chain composed of about 57 segments, such as hotels, restaurants and service providers. In 2016, even in the midst of the country’s troubled economic scenario, the capital of Paraná reached 157 events and R $ 193 million injected into the local economy, thanks to technical-scientific events. The numbers for 2017 are still being counted, but by 2018 it is already speculated a 10% to 15% increase in the number of shows, with the reduction of ISS, for example.

According to the president of the CCVB, the tax reduction implies not only an increase in the number of events of this nature, but also in the number of visitors. Regarding the Mice segment, growth of around 30% is expected until 2022, since the capture process takes place years in advance.
