The high-speed train between the cities of Medina and Mecca, in Saudi Arabia, held for the first time a complete trip across the line, according to Efe.
Still in the test phase, the 450 km course was completed in two hours and 52 minutes. In some sections, the vehicle surpassed 300 kilometers per hour, according to the Spanish consortium Al Shoula, one of the companies responsible for the work.
The inaugural trip was attended by Transport Minister Nabil al Amudi, Spanish Ambassador Álvaro Iranzo, representatives of construction companies and other guests.
The delivery of the works was delayed due to the technical difficulties of the project, which led the Spanish consortium to implement 30 technologies of adaptation to the sand and the heat of the desert.
